SOFIJA STEFANOVIĆ

My work sits at the intersection of grassroots organising, critical scholarship, embodied practice, and pedagogy. Much of it emerges from, and feeds back into, movements resisting extractive industries — particularly new and intensified mining projects for so-called "critical minerals" led by transnational corporations in the Balkans. In these contexts I work alongside communities to defend land, water, and ways of life, while also examining how extraction is entangled with imperial histories, state power, and contemporary regimes of "green" capitalism.
